Richmond 2: a project with a difference

Wednesday Nov 1, 2017

Richmond truly is a unique development and one that is set to change Auckland’s urban landscape.

Nestled in the heart of Mt Wellington, Richmond brings a fresh take on the urban lifestyle where families can grow and thrive, where they can enjoy spending time together or with friends, where they relish their free time.
Years of planning, thinking and focus by those behind the project means that what is now being created is about putting the community first, about creating a lifestyle for those who live there.

The location is superb; it’s close to the CBD, retail, rail and employment. Open spaces and pocket parks are centrally located with linkages forming a visual and physical connection to the slow speed streets. Resident traffic has been hidden away, under and behind the homes, creating a shared space above for the community to play and ride and visitor access to all front doors.

The homes themselves have been architecturally designed and they offer wonderful flexibility and spaces not normally seen in a terraced home.

The defining streets, open spaces and lanes create a community where people get to know and ‘run into’ their neighbours, where friendships flourish.

Richmond’s terraced homes are energy efficient, they provide cross-flow ventilation and they let in plenty of natural light. Thy are designed with passive heating and cooling in mind.

It’s the ease of living in a terraced home that Aucklanders are sure to fall in love with. The lock-up-and-leave, low maintenance aspect of the terraced homes in Richmond means the people who live there have more time to enjoy the things they love doing.

It’s a lifestyle that’s catching on and will see generations to come embrace it. Richmond offers that lifestyle, today.

Terrace housing internationally, whether London, New York or Sydney has always been trendy for the inner suburbs surrounding any city CBD. Auckland’s Mt Wellington is rapidly becoming one of those trendy city suburbs and Richmond is a major part of that change.

Terraced homes are typically bigger than apartment living, but you still have the lock up and leave apartment approach along with the reduced level of ongoing maintenance and upkeep that stand-alone houses demand.
There are many benefits to terraced homes for homeowners, the environment and community. And, with Auckland offering an ever-increasing lifestyle of art, dining, events, and culture, terraced homes afford you the time to be out their spending your time in a city that is vibrant, rather than tied to chores that a stand-alone house often requires.

Sustainability and energy efficiency

Terraces are one of the most resilient and sustainable forms of housing available. They are more energy efficient than stand-alone houses, and offer more variety and flexibility for people’s lifestyle. And they are a great way to stop a city’s sprawl by providing an option that is larger than an apartment, but doesn’t take up as much land space as a townhouse.

The modern terraced home has great dual-aspect form, which provides cross-flow ventilation and lets natural light into the homes. Thy are designed with passive heating and cooling in mind.

Terraced houses typically cost less to heat and are thermally efficient due to a reduced external wall area.

Saves you time and enhances your lifestyle

With strong population growth expected in Auckland, quality terraced housing closer to the CBD will be sought after. With the proximity to strong employment in Mt Wellington and Auckland’s CBD, the lifestyle options terraced housing provide reduces the time for maintenance and upkeep. Not having to mow a big yard is an added bonus. You still have your private space, and the common areas are well maintained by the Residents’ Association for all to enjoy.

A safe community

Richmond’s terraced homes have been carefully designed and planned where the defining streets, open spaces and lanes create a community where people get to know and ‘run into’ their neighbours.

Terraces work well in urban settings that are closer to amenities than outer suburban locations. Richmond is right on the doorstep of Sylvia Park, buses and the train station.

Terraced homes also have an inherent safety and security by being close to your neighbours where you can reach out for help when necessary, while still having enough room for privacy.
With all the benefits of what terraced homes afford you, combined with a great location in an area where there’s a strong economy, Richmond provides well thought through quality and value, while giving you back the most important thing to you – time to spend on the things you love.
